The Outside Agency Level 3 Department consists of 5 ASNT/PCN Level 3s, Gary Elliott (Director and Head of the Outside Agency Department), Ian Griffin (NDT/Material Evaluation Level 3 Consultant), Brian Rush (Level 3 Consultant), Maurice Russell (Level 3 Consultant) and Andrew Young (Level 3 Consultant). This team of Level 3s is supported by Jayne Oliver, the Outside Agency Level 3 Secretary.

The Level 3s are qualified both to ASNT and PCN requirements and have also obtained Prime Contractors approval from such companies as Rolls Royce PLC, Rolls Royce Corporation, Honeywell, Boeing, Airbus, Westland Helicopters and BAE Systems.

This Department offers Consultancy Services, on-site Training and Examinations.

The Consultancy work that is provided to clients by our Level 3s includes: NDT Technique approval, writing and approval of NDT Procedures, writing and approval of Written Practices to satisfy Prime Contractors requirements, conducting of internal NDT Audits. Suppliers who benefit from our Outside Agency Level 3 Services have in place a Contract with Lavender International, such that, the NDT Level 3 can be nominated to suppliers in order to comply with various Prime Contractors Specifications. The on-site Training/Examinations are also co-ordinated from this Department and are based on the Customer’s and Prime Contractor’s requirements.

Lavender International also offers Consultancy services with regard to companies requiring NDT Nadcap Accreditation and Gary Elliott and Brian Rush also act as NDT Auditors for The Performance Review Institute and conduct NDT Nadcap Audits on their behalf.

The Outside Level 3 Agency Department is also responsible for the provision of Material Evaluation Courses.

Material Evaluation includes Hardness Testing using Vickers, Rockwell and Brinell Hardness Testing equipment, Conductivity Testing, primarily of aluminium alloys, Acid Etch Inspection to detect grinding abuse and Anodic Flaw Detection.

Material Evaluation courses are usually provided on-site and can be adapted to meet company specific requirements. These courses are co-ordinated by Ian Griffin.
