Steve Lavender: Co-Managing Director
and Company Secretary
To date, Steve's working life spans two distinct episodes - part
one based at the University College of Swansea, Wales, where he obtained
an Upper Second Class Honours degree and worked on an environmental project
in the Lower Swansea Valley (1974 - 1982). During this time he carried
out major environmental projects winning a variety of awards, publishing
a number of articles and writing a book - New Land For Old (1981) with
a foreword by His Royal Highness The Prince Of Wales.
Part two began in 1982 when he moved into the family partnership
with a remit to develop and promote the training and examination services.
He developed a specific interest in NDT Certification Programmes and
is now involved in a variety of top level committees which value his
knowledge - BSI, PCN, BINDT and ASNT.
Following links with ASNT established through Jack and Dave Lavender,
Steve also contributed to the ASNT Section Development by being the instigator
of ASNT's North Atlantic Section which now has over 350 members and was
the first Chair (1993-1995). His international work has seen him elected
as ASNT's Regional Director for Region 18 and as a Member of ASNT's International
Committee. Currently he is promoting innovative use of the Internet for
training purposes and is responsible for the day to day management of
the business. He works with Co-Directors to produce a forward thinking
plan to ensure that Lavender International stays one step ahead. In 1999
Steve was elected as a Fellow of the American Society. Back in the United
Kingdom, he was Chairman of the BINDT Membership, Qualification in Education
